Hello everyone, Welcome to my blog. Today’s post is going to be on Chukwuka Nwobi who is a photojournalist that was inspired by the world to express his ideas through photography, film, and literature. I came across his work on Instagram and after going through this page I was really impressed by how good and artistic his work was. Check out my interview with Chukwuka Nwobi below:
What is your name and what do you do?
My name is Chukwuka Nwobi and I’m a photojournalist I combine visual content and literal content to express ideas and certain definitions of beauty.
Why do you do what you do?
I create because that’s the only way I can express myself For me the expression of one’s self is very key to your Mental Health. A man that cannot express himself is a dead man. So I use avenues in which I can lay my hand on like photography, film, and literature to express my ideas, feelings, and thoughts.
When/how did you start and what inspired you?
I started shooting and writing in 2013.Literally, the world inspired me I used to spend hours on Tumblr going through timeless beautiful videos, I would also spend hours on websites like hunger magazine, dazed, fader and newness. I guess seeing all that visual content pushed me into actually picking up my camera and going out there to bring my dreams to reality.
I choose photojournalism because of the little limitations it has Through photojournalism I’m not put in a box by the terms photographer or videographer I see myself as a multidisciplinary artist so I can venture into any aspect of expression I want to do Photojournalism sort of gives me a playing field in all aspects.
What do you love about your work?
What I love about my work is how distinctively beautiful I portray the Nigerian girl.
What do you dislike about your work?
Hmm, I don’t really have any dislike about my work.
What challenges do you face or have you faced?
One of the main Challenges I face in the process of creating is finding locations A location is a very improbable detail in the creation of any project It gives the visuals a certain aesthetics look which totally depends on the location.
How do you handle critics?
I really don’t pay attention to critics. I just express myself and put it out there If you like it fine. If you don’t like it we fast forward.
What is your dream project?
To make a real film that will be shown in cinemas around the world.
Professionally what is your goal?
My goal is to be a cult director Inspiring so many people around the world.
Is there anything you would like to say to upcoming photojournalist out there?
Don’t let the world hold you back because you have only one life So live it well.
