My summer playlist

hey you! Welcome back to my blog and if this is your first time Welcome you should check out the start here page for a quick orientation. So today I am going to sharing my summer playlist with you guys which is basically songs that I just can’t stop listening too. I would like to say first that music is my sanity, I listen to music all the time and I always say there is a song for every moment I would have loved to categorize each of the songs into a mood but I don’t need to do that because my friend Tobi already made it easy for us with his post “The Ideal Playlist For You” which I loved. So in my post, I am just going to give you the list and why I love the songs. My list comprises of Nigerian songs and Obodo Oyinbo (The Abroad) songs,. Take a look:

My Summer Playlist(6)

  • Nowo – DJ Spinall ft Wizkid: This song is a jammmm. You cannot understand what this song does to me like when I listen to it even though I can’t dance I am always moving. This is my number 1 favourite right now.
  • Assurance – Davido: Okay this song is just too good. When It comes to davido songs I am always expecting a jam and he didn’t disappoint and the video was just too cute I smiled throughout the video (I am looking for a brother 😂).
  • Soco – Wizkid ft Ceeza Milli, Spotless and Terri Ryn: Everytime I hear “Oya soco soco” I just start dancing (be reminded that I can’t dance 😭). This song is a jam and the video was just on point.
  • Aimasiko – Simi: I listened to this song long after she released it like I was really late to the party but I was totally impressed. Simi is like one of my favourite artists and she is just too good.
  • Bobo – Mayorkun ft Davido: Damn! When I heard this song for the first time I was shaking. Davido’s part was spectacular especially when he said “I deliver but I no be fisherman” it doesn’t make sense but I love it.
  • Wait – Teni: When I heard Fargin by Teni I just knew that this girl was a badass. Wait is a beautiful song her voice is just soothing like I can’t even deal with Teni. She really entertains I guess that’s why she is Teni the entertainer 😉.
  • Like Dat – Davido: Even though this song came out last year its still on my playlist and In my opinion, this is davido’s best song after “Aye”. Hennessy ti wo body like that. The video was just tooo good. I don’t think I can get tired of this song.
  • Ire – Adekunle Gold: God knows that Adekunle Gold is just too good. This song reaches deep into my soul. The video is so impressive, The Grass is really greener on the other side. The creativity in his music is just beautiful.
  • Mind – DMW ft Davido, Peruzzi, Dremo & Mayorkun: These DMW people are just crazy good at making hits. I just love them, this song is a really nice song even the video is too nice. They should continue making hits I am here for that.

That’s all on my Nigerian playlist and they are all major songs that make me happy everytime I listen. Now Take a look at my American playlist:

My Summer Playlist(7)

  • No tears left to cry – Ariana Grande: When I listened to it the first time I was screaming. Ariana Grande is one of my favourite artists and she just blew my mind with both the song and the video. I know Sweetener is going to be beautiful.
  • Ring – Cardi B ft Kehlani: Kehlani’s voice is so beautiful, I just love her and Cardi B slayed the song.
  • Put it on for me – Don Diablo ft Nina Nesbitt: Don Diablo is one of my favourite EDM artists right now. His beats are just not expected especially the beat in this song. It just makes you want to dance and embarrass yourself 😂.
  • The Middle – Zedd ft Maren Morris & Grey: Maren Morris’s vocals in this song made me smile in a very happy weird way. The beat blended with her voice well which was so good.
  • I Got the Juice – Janelle Monae ft Pharrell Williams: This song is so catchy and I can’t listen to it without dancing. The song is a real confidence booster.
  • Django Jane – Janelle Monae: I love this song because of the lyrics and the way she rapped in the song was just too lit.
  • I like that – Janelle Monae: Please don’t be annoyed because I have like 3 Janelle Monae songs here but I just have to appreciate and give her the accolades she deserves mehnnn.
  • All the stars – Kendrick Lamar & SZA: This song is jam! This is one of my favourite songs from the Black Panther album and the video was good too. SZA is just a queen and Kendrick is a King.
  • KOD – J Cole: Okay this song makes me move my body like I just really like this song. The album was good too. Even though I’m still battling how I feel about the album I know It’s going to be on my playlist for a long time.
  • ATM – J Cole: The beginning of this song just makes me and generally the song is just mad. The beat is on point and apparently, I’m the only that is hearing “Canada Canada Canada Count it” (I know it’s count it up, don’t come and beat me).

Well, These are some of my favourite songs on my playlist right now if you haven’t listened to some or all of them you can by clicking any of the songs listed above they are all good songs. Thank you so much for reading you can also share song suggestions in the comment section below (I am looking for new songs to listen to) and If you also have a few songs on my playlist corresponding with yours you can also comment below so we can know ourselves. 10 Things I learned Last semester

Hey guys! How are you doing today? Today’s post is going to be about things I learned from last semester. First I would like to announce if you don’t know already I’m in my FINAL YEAR

And I would like to say that 4 months in school is not easy at all not to talk of 4 years and if I am being truthful this was probably my worst semester ever since I have been in school but what kept me going was the fact that I kept telling myself “You have one more year to go” 😂. I can’t even count the number of times I said

“I want to drop out”

The reasons for my sadness this semester are too much to start listing but even In the hard and bad times I still survived and I learned a lot of things which I am going to share with you out of the kindness of my heart 😊:

  • Without God you will just be sad: this is something that Isn’t really New to your ears probably but I can’t stress how important God is in the life of a student. There are sometimes that I just feel sad about everything and I pray to God and this element of happiness just fills my soul if you know what I mean. God is a really important factor for your survival.
  • Never Give up: This is one thing I believe most of us find hard to do. The Art of not giving up is something that few people have. I cannot even count how many times I gave up this semester but the funny one that happens to me Every semester is when I have been attending 7am classes for like half the semester and one morning I just tell myself “What is the point” and I go back to sleep and I miss the class (There goes my perfect attendance record) but as time went on I realized that when you give up on something it has a lot of consequences.
  • Sleep is the devil’s personal equipment: mehnn this semester was so hot and stressful that I allowed sleep get the best of me. After a hot day I get back to my room and I take a little nap (emphasizing on the little) only to wake up the next day and I have a lot of things to submit that day but because of sleep I wake up extremely late and there is no time to do anything. It’s good to sleep but don’t allow it get the best of you.
  • Quality talks with your roommates are the best: This is one of the things I always looked forward to after a long day. In my room, we always had this kind of little talk every chance we had. It was like our very own Bkchat I actually really learned a lot of things that have changed my life for the better from those little talks.
  • Pulling all-nighters all the time is bad for your health: All-nighters are really good in helping you cover what you need to do right before a particular exam or quiz butt it becomes bad when you pull an all-nighter and during the day you are like the walking dead. I remember one time I went all night reading and during my exam, I started falling asleep it wasn’t funny at all. Don’t be like me, read and get enough sleep.
  • People are just naturally toxic: I am guilty of giving toxic people more chances than they deserve. This semester the Lord opened my eye to the toxic people in my life. Sometimes we misjudge people and have too much hope that they’ll be able to change. it’s better to cut those people out of your lives. You’ll take time to recover but eventually, you’ll get there.
  • Its normal to make bad decisions: There are a lot of decisions I made this semester that I totally regret with every bone in me but what can I do being sad about it won’t change anything. Bad decisions are part of life so don’t be ashamed if you mess up. What’s important is that you learn from your mistakes and mature from them.
  • Some of the bad decisions I made helped me make good friends: This is evidence that shows that in every bad situation good can always come out. I made a lot of friends in the process of fixing my mistakes which from my point of view was a blessing.
  • Don’t be afraid to try again even when you fail: This is not easy to do at all but you can make it. Imagine pulling an all-nighter for a test and you end up getting 2/10 your will to learn will just reduce to 1% but that doesn’t mean you should give up on the other tests you will still have. You have to try your best with the next one and you will definitely do better.
  • Don’t ever talk about tests/exams straight after: Please don’t ever do this you will regret it Talking about the tests and exams straight after usually makes you second guess yourself and feel guilty about the questions you got wrong. If you don’t get that feeling of self-doubt, you still shouldn’t compare with friends, because you might make them feel bad without meaning to. Immediately after an exam I always run to my hall or I flee from any appearance of evil (1 Thessalonians 5:22) 🙂

Well, these are the major things I learned from last semester I am going to write a post on how to prepare for next semester (Anticipate that). Thank you so much for reading you can also share what you learned in the comment section below (Let’s see if we learned similar things). Don’t forget to share! bye

Setting goals for your lifestlye

Hey you! Welcome to this special post in celebration of Bloggers week 2017. This is the last post of the week and I am really happy to be given the opportunity to write about this particular topic. During the week, different bloggers talked about how you can build a good lifestyle from their different perspectives through topics that describe clearly some aspects you need to have a good lifestyle. This post is meant to make you realize that you can’t build a good lifestyle without being able to set goals.

Going through life without a goal is like you going on a journey without a destination. Yes, your lifestyle can be healthy, fashionably awesome, filled with relationships, very artistic but without the ability to set goals you are just going down a path without a destination. I am here to help you figure out how to set goals and reach them effectively. As you already know, 2017 is coming to an end tomorrow and a lot of people have new year resolutions also known as goals for the new year. Sincerely, most people that have new year resolutions don’t end up fulfilling it and I am actually part of those under the category of “most people”. Every year I make new year resolutions, out of 20 I only fulfill like 3.😂 That’s why we have to talk about “How to know your goal is a goal”. Your goal is a goal when it:

  • It Motivates you: This means that the goal you are setting is important to you and that there is a great value in achieving them.
  • It is attainable: This is making sure that the goal you are setting is attainable. An unattainable is also called an unrealistic goal. When you set a goal that you cant reach you are just basically wasting your time.
  • It is relevant: Your goals should be relevant to the direction you want your life and career to take.
  • It is time-bound: Your goal must have a deadline. When working with a deadline, it allows you achieve that goal much quicker.
  • It is smart: For your goal to be powerful, they should be SMART

If your goal is not any of the things listed above, is it really a goal?. I have to admit that reaching goals that you set is not easy at all. There are a lot of goals I set for my self a long time ago that I haven’t reached but as time went on I learned how to stick with a goal without losing interest or forgetting about the goal and I want to share these little tips with you hope it can help:

  • Ask yourself how committed you are: How committed are you to a goal, are you the type of person that sets a goal today and tomorrow just forgets about it. A goal needs a commitment to be achieved.
  • Devote the necessary time: You should schedule a particular time every day that is reserved for your goal and this allows you to achieve your goal step by step.
  • stay motivated and keep making progress even when you aren’t: When you set a goal it is going to be challenging but that doesn’t mean that when it gets hard you should lose motivation or give up. STAY MOTIVATED!!
  • Plan of obstacles: Achieving the most difficult goals usually means overcoming many challenging obstacles. When you take your time to think about what obstacle might stand in the way of achieving your goal you can be prepared beforehand. Although they are some obstacles that can come your way that you won’t expect but don’t worry you will pull through.

The last point up there is really important. It is something you will definitely encounter during the fulfillment of a goal because nothing in life comes easy. That’s why when obstacles come you have to be ready to do the necessary things to overcome such obstacles. One important thing I want you to know when you are setting goals is that “Make sure your goals are realistic”. A lot of people set unrealistic goals (i used to be one of them) and they ended up wasting their time trying to achieve a goal that is not achievable. I am ending this post with this quote:

Once you have the aspects of building a good lifestyle (health, relationships, fashion, inspiration) you are complete without these things your lifestyle is missing a few things. I guess that’s the end of Bloggers week 2017 edition. I hope we have given you enough tips that can help you build your lifestyle.

Thank you so much for reading and tuning in every day. Have a lit new year ✨

Hey, you! Welcome to my blog. Today I am going to be talking about things you must give up to move forward in different areas of your life and I am going to be doing that by listing 10 things you should give up. Everyone wants to move forward in life, no one wants to stay in one position forever. Moving forward is something that is really hard for most people because they refuse to let go of or give up what is holding them back and some don’t even know what it is that isn’t allowing to move forward, well if you are that person I am here to help you realize what is. Take a look at the 10 things you must give up to move forward:

  • Letting the opinion of others control your life: it’s not about what others think, it’s about what you think about yourself that counts. You have to do exactly what is best for you and your life, not what is best for everyone else.
  • The shame of your past failures: The past does not define your future, all that matters is what you do right now. Take a look at this quote:

As you look back at your life, you realize that every time you thought you were rejected from something good, you were actually being re-directed to something better.

  • Being indecisive about what you want: You can never leave where you are until you decide where you would rather be. Make a decision to figure out what you want, and then pursue it passionately because time will not wait for you.
  • Procrastinating on the goals that matter to you: This is one major problem that people have including me. I am always procrastinating like every time but one thing I realized is that there are two primary choices in life: to accept conditions as they exist or accept the responsibility when they change.
  • Choosing to do nothing: You don’t get to choose how you are going to die or when. You can only decide how you are going to live, right now. Every day is a new chance to choose.
  • Your need to be right: Aim for success, but never give up your right to be wrong. Because when you do, you will also lose your ability to learn new things and move forward with your life.
  • Running from problems that should be fixed: Stop running! Face these issues, fix the problems, communicate, appreciate, forgive and love the people in your life who deserve it. If you keep running away from problems they will keep coming back.
  • Making excuses rather than decisions: Most long-term failures are the outcome of people who make excuses instead of decisions.
  • Overlooking the positive points in your life: What you see often depends entirely on what you’re looking for. You will have a hard time ever being happy if you aren’t thankful for the good things in your life right now.
  • Not appreciating the present moment: Too often we try to accomplish something big without realizing that the greatest part of life is made up of the little things.

Well, these are 10 things I believe you need to give up I hope you learned something from this post because I did. I am ending this post with this quote:

Starting today, you need to forget what’s gone appreciate what still remains and look forward to what’s coming next.

Thank you so much for reading, you can drop your comments below (This post was inspired by a picture I saw on Pinterest).

10 ways to deal with Low Self-Esteem

hey everyone! Welcome to my blog. I am going to be talking about how you can deal with low self-esteem, a lot of people deal with low self-esteem and because of this, they make bad decisions in order to build up their self-esteem and those decisions affect them later in the future. so that’s why I decided to share 10 ways you can deal with it. here they are:

  1. Start a compliment Jar

Many people probably think that this won’t work but they are wrong. for an entire month, write down something you like about yourself every single day, any compliment that’s truly positive counts. At the end of the month, go through your positive thoughts and reflect on them.

2. Start living for now.

Low self-esteem is often a problem of putting too much emphasis on things that can’t be changed or that are too far in the future to tell the outcome. Stop thinking these thoughts and live in the now.

3. Keep a Journal

I had a journal once, I wrote in it practically every day but then I stopped not because it wasn’t helping but because my aunt took it and read it LOL but basically when you write down your feelings, you get them out in a healthy way. Once you release them through quick and freeform writing. Close your journal for the day and don’t open it again until its time to write again. People think that having a journal is actually childish but I don’t think so.

4. Become Aware of your negativity

When you catch yourself being negative, actively acknowledge it. When you recognize your negativity, you give yourself the chance to respond with positivity. To be very honest I am a really negative person but I try my best to be positive and you should too.

5. Ask Yourself “IF…”.

“If someone else was in my position, would I make them feel negative?” Sometimes looking objectively at yourself and your situation can make you feel more positive.

6. Stop Judging Yourself And Others

Normally those with low self-esteem are also very negative in other areas of their life. If you find yourself criticizing others, STOP. Be more positive in all areas of your life.

7. Start Meditating.

Doing Something relaxing can help you become more positive about yourself. Try and let go of all your inner anxiety and breathe for 15 minutes a day or more. It works!

8. Have conversations with yourself.

This is not creepy at all! instead of you falling back on negative thoughts, start talking to yourself like an adult. Converse with yourself, ask yourself questions like why you are feeling the way you do? How can you make it better? sometimes I have conversations in my head and I start to laugh, people are always staring at me.

9. Learn To Let It All Go

Disconnecting from what’s making you anxious can sometimes be the best thing for you. When you have low self-esteem, learn not to put so much investment into what you’re upset by about yourself.

10. Be an active participant in your life.

Don’t be a backseat driver. When you let your emotions run your life. you aren’t truly in control. Start actively participating in your life to help develop a more positive attitude.

Well, that’s all on the 10 ways you can deal with low self-esteem. I hope you enjoyed what you just read. If you follow this steps I can assure you that you will beat low self-esteem. Olasubomi Disu

Olasubomi Adebayo Disu also known as Subomi the photographer is one of the young photographers and writers in Nigeria. After looking at his work I had to interview him.

When did you start photography and what inspired you?

I started photography in 2014 and I was inspired by the fact that immediate sets before me always had a photographer in their midst, so I decided to be that photographer in my set. Then I also had an older friend (tse) that was into photography, his works motivated me.

What do you love about photography and writing?

Generally, I love the deep things of life, the good and the bad I don’t write often but when I do I try my best to communicate my thoughts, for photography I love graphics, I love creativity, putting things together, something different and deep.

Did you have setbacks and how did you pull through?

Yeah, I did, I started with a ‘semi-pro’ camera, I used it for two years before getting a professional one. I was in my last year in high school so I didn’t really have the time to be creative with my pictures. So it just attracted criticism, but I’m that type of person that gets motivated by criticism, especially the ones that aren’t constructive.

How do you deal with critics?

I set high standards for myself, I thoroughly assess my work before I decide to release it to the public, it helps reduce the number of critics.

Do you have anything to say to upcoming photographers out there?

Be exceptional, be creative, diversity is key.

Take a look at the self-discovery series by subomi disu

Self-discovery (1/3)

People still stuck in quandary. Indecisive as to who they want to be in life. And some are forced by their parents to spend more than 20 years trying to be who they aren’t. Parents picking their future career for them all in the name of flaunting that their child as one of the top professionals in the country, neglecting the child’s ability and happiness. Growing up to wallow in self-pity for choosing a career they don’t love. Regret is a prodigious feeling. An emotion intertwined with depression. Don’t let yourself be another soul roaming around the crust of the earth, find yourself. Find what you love. Follow that which you love. Get the knowledge you need in what you love doing and wealth would follow. Your happiness should be your priority.

Self-discovery series (2/3)

That moment you realize what you’ve been working on isn’t what you love, use both feet, hit the brakes, and set free. Retrace your steps and ask yourself ‘who am I?’

These words may seem little but within holds a lot of related questions complex to the average human understanding. You see, that moment you keep pondering on this question, I pray. you discover what you love. Cause what you love defines who you are, it brings out the passion in you, that passion like no other. When you finally find your true self, teach yourself how to be the best at it or find someone else better than you to lead you to the right path. The only limitation to finding yourself is you, the people who made a difference in this world are those who weren’t scared of taking risks. Don’t be scared to pursue what you love. Always set goals, strive to get better. Not necessarily better than others but better than who you were a day ago. On your road to discovery, I hope you find what you seek. The ball is in your court; it has always been. Discover yourself

Self-discovery (Finale)

I guess it’s time to round up. There would be a point in your life where the extent of your abilities would come as a shock to you. When you look in the mirror, do you see someone in you greater than you could ever imagine? If you do, I applaud you for that. If you don’t start believing in yourself, you would hardly find people who would. Pick yourself, dust yourself up, and invest in yourself. Invest your time and all other resources in yourself. And finally, your dreams would become reality. Become your own king.

Discover yourself.

Well, that’s all I have on this wonderful photographer/writer sorry for the really long post. I hope you got something from this post that can help you to discover yourself, thank you for reading

Be Yourself !

“Waking up to who you are required letting go of who you imagine yourself to be”- Alan Watts

Don’t try to be someone else, be yourself, be secure with yourself and trust your own decisions. Self-love is one of the greatest attributes a person can have, without this attribute you are left vulnerable to the outside world which makes it easy for people to push you around and this leads to your downfall. I have seen situations where people find it really hard to be themselves all because they “want to belong” and that’s wrong, you don’t have to change to belong.

I was once shy and reclusive but I wasn’t being myself, whenever I noticed myself getting attached to the labels that people kept in my head it was a big challenge because I cared so much about being accepted by others so I would ask myself,”how would I act right now if I had no cares of what others thought of me?” I realized that who I am naturally without anything else added is perfectly okay.

The truth is when you begin to question who you are, you lose confidence in yourself because you have the mentality that you are not good enough for people to see and you try your best to fix yourself when initially there was nothing wrong with you and in the process of fixing yourself, you become something that the people that never paid attention to you in the first place can mock and bully with their words. Don’t change for anyone, don’t change your character, your attitude and behavior. You are perfect the way you are!

How to get over a breakup.

A while back I watched a close friend of mine go through a breakup, and it was really sad, she was having a hard time getting over it, so I was inspired to give some simple tips on how to get over a breakup

1. Either block or unfriend him, because that will be the death of you. Most people might find this really childish but it’s actually better if you block him from all parts of your life if you don’t you just keep on remembering what went down between the both of you especially when you see a picture or a video of him. nobody wants to remember their ex after they are over.

2. Don’t immediately suggest to “stay friends” — and if he does, tell him you need to think about it. This is an impulse because you don’t want to seem like you care too much about the breakup. Because you’re so chill. But truthfully, during this awkward breaking-up period, it’s hard to tell whether you’ll be able to be friends or not. Generally, one person wants to be friends and the other wants to be more. Gotta work that shit out before it can be a healthy friendship … if it ever can be. You’re not admitting defeat by not staying friends with him.

3. Spend a lot of time outside. It’s a cliché, but fresh air really does clear your head. So does, you know, seeing the sun every once in a while. Take at least two hours from each day just to leave your Comfort zone and interact with The Outside world.

4. If you start dating someone else, take it really slow. Dude. You just ended a relationship and your heart flipped over and exploded like a tanker. I know most girls/guys of nowadays have zero chills, they go through a break up the previous week and the next week they are in new relationships. If you take it step by step and enjoy it as a casual thing for a while, that’ll give you some time to evaluate whether you’re actually ready to be with someone again.

5. Reach out to people, and tell them exactly what you need. You might feel like nobody will understand, or be afraid of becoming that depressed girl who can’t hold a conversation without crumbling. But we’ve all crumbled. Most people shy away from offering help only because they don’t know what you need, and they don’t feel adequate. People will surprise you with their support if you give them the chance. Be as specific about what you need as you can. “Hi, I’m sad and I need someone to listen,” is always a good place to start.

6. It feels like you’re dying, and in some ways you are. Let yourself die because dying is the only way you can be reborn. A breakup is a chance to be reborn.
